The phrase "bootstraps!" is an SJW term to shut down anybody who dares to throw out the notion that some things take work that you have to be willing to do if you want to hope to see change.

It's not really that the concept went to meaning how the SJWers mean it. "Pick yourself up by your bootstraps" is still a valid phrase that means what the rest of us know it means about working hard and pulling yourself up on your own steam.

The problem is that social justice warriors hate that concept. So any time anyone suggests that maybe people need to work a little harder, all they're meaning when they bleat "bootstraps!!" is "You're making that shitty bootstrap argument! HDU!"
