(Though, imo, Eroica has, overall, the best fanfiction I've encountered. The Law of 90% almost seems inverted. ~ I don't read much fanfiction, and I remember very little of what I do read, but most of the stories I can actually remember seem to be Eroica stories.)

Oh hell yes.

(And yes of course, YMMV. Personally I prefer bittersweet and/or delicate humor over heels-in-the-air smut. Happy endings (as long as the sappy isn't overdone, and no one goes too far OOC) is good, but I also like well-done misery.) ~

Having said that, I've enjoyed almost anything I've read by Kadorienne (though I've certainly not read them all). My favorites are:

The Beautiful and the Beastly What if Dorian weren't beautiful anymore?

The Iron Mask Take the standard Eroica blackmail plot. Throw in the sharp blow to the head our darling Major has been needing so desperately.

And ... the third one I want to recommend I can't track down. It was a Klaus POV, exquisitely done self-denial and self-deception and self-loathing. (That well-done misery I mentioned? this is one of those.) The image that sums the fic up for me is Klaus taking a bath - in icy water, iirc -- furiously "punishing" his genitals with a scrub-brush. I can't remember who wrote it, or where I read it, but it's one of the few stories that legitimately reduced me to sobbing over a fictional character.

Thanks for the recs! The one you can't find sounds oddly in character for klaus. It sounds heartbreaking.

It really was. It was so clear to the reader that Klaus was attracted to Dorian but just couldn't deal with this, and so was trying to avoid admitting it to himself at the same time that he was trying to "scour the gay away." It just ... damn, I wish I could find it again, to see if it's as good as my memory of it.

(Another quite sad one is Kadorienne's From Eroica. Also on A0# and the belladonna site.)
