I have stretch marks and cellulite and I give no fucks about either one. The answer here is simple: You need to work on your self esteem. A lot. And learn to be thankful that you weren't born with any real problems, like a deformity or disability.

You probably think you're helping and I'm really happy for you, genuinely, that you have such a great body image. I hope someday I'm able to say the same thing. But this is such an unhelpful thing to say.

You think I don't know that I'm extremely lucky and many people are worse off? Hearing this doesn't make me feel better about my insecurities. All it does is make me feel sad and guilty and even more disappointed in myself for being ungrateful and shallow. And body insecurity is a *real* problem. Just because it's not the biggest one doesn't mean you should dismiss it. Nobody chooses to feel this way and it can be tiring and hurtful.

OP: a positive body image is a great thing and you should definitely do whatever you can to embrace and love yourself but it doesn't make you a bad or selfish person if you are insecure about something. How you feel about yourself is how you feel about yourself and has nothing to do with other people and their body issues or disabilities or whatever.

Body insecurity is a problem that can be solved by working with a therapist... which it sounds like you (and OP) should definitely look into. It's not permanent and unresolvable like a deformity or disability. Not even close.

I do hope you guys get help and learn to love yourself, because this is a problem that can be fixed.

Please point out where I said otherwise? My point is trying to shame OP by telling them other people have "real" issues with their bodies is counterproductive, pointless, and just plain mean.
