I just wanted to pop in to tell you that you are not alone in having a step mother from hell! Or as I like to call her: a real fairy story evil step mother.

She really was one. And it was weird, I remember when I was younger she was nice. But it seemed when I was about 12 she just became increasingly abusive until she left when I was 17. I think one of the worst things was coming home from school and not knowing who we would be dealing with: Nice Stepmom or Insane Stepmom.

As I was watching the Dredd movie, I was like "This woman is really disturbing." Then in one of the scenes she did something+looks that really reminded me of my ex-stepmom and I was like, "Oh. That is why."

Yeah, I did a bit of research about the character and considering how creepy and manipulative her character is, I won't be watching GoT.

But... she doesn't do any parental stuff in the movie. She's a crime boss who shoots guns and slices people up and orders mooks to their deaths and emasculated a pimp with her teeth. Just how fucked up is your stepmom?

And while GoT is a huge bundle of triggers and violence, she's not the same character in it - and she's pretty nice to her kids.

She once took a handgun and threatened to shoot my sister and I. Told us because we lived in the country, even if we called someone for help they would not get there in time.

I hate Joffrey as much as the next GoT viewer, but do you really thing this is a remotely legitimate response to OP's story about her ex-step mom's horrific abuse? .....

OP here. I didn't mind her response to be honest. Just talking about it doesn't bother me. I just don't really want to see her being all manipulative. A lot of what my stepmom did was like psychological shit. She never beat beat us. It was usually hair pulling, grabbing/shoving, and scratching.

And I think I came out of it pretty okay. I don't like being touched and the occasional panic attack, but all in all I am okay. Though I am fairly certain my horrifying nightmares stem from her.

Honestly the worst is that no one knows. At least I don't think they do because several of my family members have her friended on Facebook. Even my little sister does, which makes me feel like I am over-reacting to the whole thing (or maybe my sister just doesn't remember as well as I do). Who knows?

OT but I really liked MaMa. She was a great villain and it seemed like Lena Headey had a shitload of fun getting to be that despicable. As far as the gritty universe of the movie was concerned, she was an excellent counter to Dredd.
