Ha. At this point I doubt you'll believe me, but I'm actually very liberal. I've just known a few people who were republicans but still supported LGBT rights, so I know it's possible. Admittedly, I find it kind of shitty of them to prioritize whatever other issue over my freedoms, but still - it's possible to belong to a party and still not agree with the party line in every circumstance. Or are you telling me you agree with every single thing that your party does? 'Cause I don't.

Eh, there are plenty of Christians that are supportive of LGBT rights, even though their holy doctrine disagrees. I've never known many average people to be 100% behind a single platform their party supports.

As someone who lobbied for years to get gay marriage passed in New York, I have to say that it was a sea-change in the attitudes of the New York State GOP that actually made it happen, so.

Republicans =/= Conservatives, and gay marriage especially is becoming less of a wedge issue. Mainly because Republican lawmakers are discovering they have family members who are gay, so in essence they're spineless and selfish and only care about an issue when it affects them personally, but hey, whatever works.

All I've seen for sure is "private about his beliefs" (I think Jared defending him from some invasive questions at a con?) and some creepy-fan-detective stuff about his family being conservative/religious. But I'm sure how "being a republican" automatically means "not okay with playing a queer character".

Me either, but Jensen's always been rather up front about the fact that he's not a big fan of the emotional parts of SPN, that he always liked the action parts more. And Jensen always did strike me as a man's man and not too emotional. But then I've never met the guy, so who knows.
