Anyone watching Spartacus? I caught some episodes of Spartacus: Vengance on TV and decided to watch the whole show. And now I've been wondering, in which order should I watch the seasons? Should I watch the prequel first or start at season 1?

Also, any recs? Fanworks, communities, tumblr, I don't care...

If I'm not mistaken, the beginning of the prequel gives away what happens in s1 so I'd be mindful of that when deciding on a viewing order.

S1, Prequel, then S2. The prequel directly ties to S1, and (in my opinion) seeing the prequel first would actually kind of make season 1 much less interesting and weaken some of the twists. Plus, the prequel doesn't have Spartacus in it, so S1->prequel->S2 makes the actor replacement seem less jarring. :)

Definitely finish Season 1 first. The prequel is most effective when you know how things will end up when all is said and done.

I watched the prequel first, mainly because it was convenient (I started getting into the show just as the prequel was airing, and I watched the first episode without even knowing it was a prequel at first). It worked all right, but I think watching season one first would probably be more effective. Watching season one, there were several moments where I thought, 'Oh, so that's what that moment in the prequel was alluding to....'
