=Mild spoilers for s03e15=

The big point of Season 3 for Rick, culminating in the most recent episode, was that trying to be Shane 2.0 was bad and wrong and he should stop, which he has now realized and is making amends for.

Out of curiosity, can I ask what you found unlikable about Daryl, or Carol, or Herschel? Glenn, admittedly, had a kind of self-centered reaction to his and Maggie's ordeal at the Governor's hands, but he realized his errors and he and Maggie worked it out.

That's good to know, but also too little too late for me. He lost any appeal he had by thinking that Shane 2.0 was a good idea in the first place. He literally killed Shane for being, well, Shane, and then turns around and goes 'you know what this group needs? Shane!'

Honestly? I quite liked Carol and Daryl. They and Dale were probably the most enjoyable ones in the entire cast. Of course, Dale died to, idk, make Andrea feel like a bitch and then not change her ways at all?

I think the big problem with Carol and Daryl is that they didn't show up enough to make me want to keep watching. They weren't enough to counteract Andrea slobbering all over the obviously evil rapey dude, Rick running around being a douche, and everything in between. If there was a spinoff where Carol and Daryl took off kicking ass, I'd be all over it.

I liked Glenn in the beginning too. I found him and Maggie falling in love in four days really unrealistic, and that sort of soured me on them in general. Not bad, just... not appealing, either.

And Herschel? Ehhh... I don't have anything against him either - he just suffers the same problem as Glenn and Maggie - not really interesting enough to swing me either way.

I think I'm one of those people who just can't watch forty straight minutes of assholes being assholes to each other and then shooting at other assholes because humans are assholes and there are some zombies too. It's just too draining and not fun at all - sort of like the later episodes of Torchwood, if you know the series. Maybe it's supposed to be okay, and that's fine, but it's just not for me.

SA

That's fair. I guess I just like characters like Carol and Daryl (and a few of the others) enough that it carries me over until characters like Rick pull their heads out of their asses. (Also, I want to see the Governor die a horrible death.)

Yeah, I'm familiar with Torchwood. I made it about halfway through season 2. Owen may be the least likable protagonist I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. And they screwed up Jack's character so much! D:

I followed Torchwood all the way through to Miracle Day, and I honestly wish that I hadn't. It was really depressing and draining and everyone was horrible. It wasn't even that kind of dark that made you think, it was just... everyone sucks and humans suck and nobody is redeemable and we're all gonna die alone in the dark.

Maybe I just don't see the appeal of depressing shows like that - I'm not against unhappy endings, but when you go through a whole show where everyone is a miserable sod it's just so hard to understand why I have to care. XD;

In the shows defense the relationship between Maggie and Glen went pretty much the same way in the comic. Maggie was all like "Let's have sex cause you're the only straight guy I'm probably going to see ever!" and so they did and then they fell in love. Guess they had some really amazing sex or something I dunno

Fun Note: Dale died bc his actor asked to be written out, rather last minute, so his death wasn't really intended to have any character driven meaning besides zombies getting to eat a main character. :)

Oh really? That actually makes it a little better. Still sucks that he died though.
