most Americans don't drink straight from the tap, but all of our water is fluoridated even if it comes out of a bottle.

Anyway, movie star teeth don't really equate to normal teeth... just like most Americans aren't rail thin and have wrinkles as they age. But having buck teeth/extremely crooked teeth fixed as a child is considered standard.

In my experience, most Americans DO drink straight from the tap.

It's a heavily regional thing (largely, but not entirely, determined by how healthy the water is to drink in a given area) but I haven't seen any studies on how prevalent it is either way.

I know that in the area where I grew up, everyone drinks out the tap. But I don't know if that's normal.

Normal to me, and I haven't really seen otherwise. I live in the Southeast.

That's my experience, too. But I'm from the midwest and our tap water was actually good. I had family in other parts of the country who generally didn't drink straight from the tap because their water was gross.

Yeah, I know some areas have water that tastes nasty, even if there isn't anything actually wrong with it. Luckily ours has always been good, though the water where I went to college tasted ever so slightly of chlorine, which was hard to ignore sometimes. But a Brita pitcher fixed that.

Brita pitchers are the best. My dorm in college had seriously gross tasting tap water and my brita was a lifesaver.

Not all our water is fluoridated.
