This whole refrain of you can't win writing PoC, (so you shouldn't even try) is bullshit. I've got an entire bookcase of award-winning SF&F in book and video form that demonstrates otherwise.

Last I check, Pratchett got more criticism that Snuff was a disappointing novel, than the fact that it was about the English abolition of the slave trade.

That's really going out of your way to miss the point.

I'm not saying writers can't. I'm saying the same type of people who are bound to get pissed at what OP is complaining about are also going to get pissed that there are major black characters suffering from racism and written by a white person. These are a minority to begin with.

But if you're going to consider their feelings at all, you have to acknowledge there's actually no way to win that won't have a large swatch of bloggers very angry. You might please one side, but you'll piss off another.

And FYI, I wasn't saying "you shouldn't even try". I'm pointing out to the OP that her grievances directly conflict with other people who think they're just as morally correct in saying white people shouldn't write PoC at all.

I got your point. However, it's such a patently ridiculous exaggeration that it's not even wrong.
