Ditto to this - my partner had long hair all their life and finally decided to cut it short a few years ago. Hair stylist said it wouldn't look good, claimed it would just frizz out, but she cut it anyway, and she did an entire 180 and loved the way it looked. My partner was really happy with it, too, and the shorter it gets cut, the better it looks (short of a buzz-cut anyway).

Sometimes hair stylists are wrong. And besides, if the dye doesn't suit you - so what? It's just dye. You can dye over it or grow it out or whatever. It's not permanent. Have fun with it!
