I...I think this person may be a little too invested in this character. Their argument is actually the identity-denying one because they're claiming a sexuality for a character who has never stated their sexuality one way or another. It's one thing to speculate sexuality, but to claim it as fact in spite of canon is just bullshit no matter what way you slice it.

Yeeeah, that was kind of my feeling on it. I never even told them that they couldn't read that character as bi or have a head canon. I just pointed out that it's not canon, so shitting on people who call the character straight was kind of ridiculous.

I think real people should always come before characters, since characters, while amazing, don't actually have feelings that you can hurt. Sadly, I keep running across people in fandom who don't seem to get this, lol.
