Re: ANGSTY STUFF NEEDED (hope it goes where it should now)

Chill the fuck out, oh my god.

If you could find Doing Time on Maple Drive, I'd recommend it. It's about a "perfect family" that is anything but as the youngest kid (William McNamara) is about to get married but is struggling with his sexuality, one kid (Jim Carrey) is an underachieving alcoholic, and one kid (Jayne Brook) is arguing with her husband over whether they should start a family when her father clearly thinks they shouldn't just yet.

The bulk of the story centers on Matt, the yougest, who goes through a lot. Pretty much every summary on the big sites gives a lot of space to Jim Carrey, but his role is really quite small.

There's also Bang Bang, You're Dead, which isn't nearly as treacly as the Netflix summary implies:
What could possibly lead teenagers to kill their peers with guns and firepower? That is the perpelxing question this film, based on a play that has been produced at schools all over America, attempts to answer. Trevor Adams (Ben Foster) is a smart kid who's feeling cowed by the popular crowd. Lonely, he finds companionship in the Trogs, a group who voices its disgruntlement through pranks and deadly assault. Can a concerned teacher save him?

And one of my personal favorites, Ordinary People. From Netflix:
Everything is in its proper place in the Jarrett household -- except the past. Mary Tyler Moore scored an Oscar nod for her role as repressed mother Beth Jarrett, whose favorite son has died, leaving her with another (Timothy Hutton) she can barely tolerate. The film also netted four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Robert Redford, in his directorial bow), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for young Hutton.

Sorry, I just... Let's say I didn't have a particularly good day. Acting awkwardly on the Internet wasn't exactly the way I wished to end it, I'm drained the way it is. Ugh >__<

Wow, that's one thoughtful list of recommendations, how kind of you :) I'm so grateful, will check out some of those ASAP. Thanks!
