Well, I can't speak for others, but that's not the case for me. I didn't like Carol at first because she was stupid and incompetent and panicky in the face of danger. In the last two seasons she's grown a lot and my appreciation for her has grown with her. She'll never be book smart, but she's grown world-smart. She's developed good survival skills and can handle herself in a crisis without being a burden on others. Where she used to be clingy, she is now confident, and the positive sides of her personality have come forth: her kindness and helpfulness and dependability. Her generosity and acceptance of new people. She's been through hell and bloomed for it. She's had one one of the most satisfying character arcs of all of them.

I like her now. I used to dislike her intensely.
