Napkin skirt reminds me of Ashe whose design I actually liked, crazy as it was.
This just kinda looks like two completely different costumes mashed together. TBH all of Lightning's costumes other than the one she wore on the first game don't look as good on her.

Same. Somehow Ashe's costume never bugged me like this. This costume is just so ??? on Lightning (especially with the g-string strap).

Yeah, I thought Ashe looked pretty and It didn't seem too impractical when her fighting styles were pretty straight to the point swinging her weapon.
It's pretty funny to picture Lightning from the first game angrily punching people around and cursing the gods while dressed with a g-string though.

Not sure about this on Lighting though. Her outfit in the first game was gorgeous imo, and although I haven't played the second game yet (maybe the outfit grows on you, idk) I don't much like the look of her outfit there either.

I'm with you on not having played XIII-2 and thinking her armor looks strange. Going from her modern and relatively normal costume from XIII to sudden medieval flashy knight on XIII-2 is weird... like... so Chronicles of Riddick.

I fucking love Ashe's mishmash character design but I'm pretty mad about them putting it on Lightning

I loved everything about Ashe Ashe's costume. It was pretty, and given that she lived in a desert, dressing to keep cool actually made some measure of sense.

My biggest problem, oddly is the color scheme. It's just not her and is seriously ugly and clashing. WHY.

Yeah, the whole things looks like it's made from scraps dug out of a dumpster and stapled together. This outfit needed a Tim Gunn to just put an end to it at the design stage.

her outfit bothers me something fierce, but is that an actual game screenshot as well? the anatomy is driving my crazy. her head looks big on that tiny tiny body. though it's hard to look at her head when my eyes are so drawn to her elaborately shaded groin. sigh.

haha I didn't even catch her crotch at first. It almost looks like a camel toe! I had no idea girls could get camel toes from skirts. I guess she really does live to make the impossible possible...

Where is this screeny from? Doesn't look quite like her XIII costume and her XIII-2 is basically stripper!Valkyrie... is that DLC? Please don't say that's from the new game, I want to like the new game. :P

This isn't her default outfit, I think. But I just Googled around, and it looks like she'll be wearing clothes a-la FFX-2.

It seems like the designers had an error in their brain when they came up with this. Though that's the norm when it comes to female designs. I mean... it looks like it's two completely different designs mashed together. It looks confused and stupid. It's like they went "Oh wait a second we need more tits & ass but we already covered her boobs so let's give her a napkin skirt HERP DERP!"
