Well, the creators of SGU retconned that people signed consent forms before they switched bodies with folks on Destiny so it was ok for them to drink and have sex in their bodies....but the fans still thought it was pretty fucking gross.

It wasn't retconned, it was offered by way of explanation. As in people were whining about it so the writers/producers were like "SIGH, fine, let us spell it out for those of you who will automatically assume the worst instead of taking for granted SOP." I always just assumed they signed consent forms and then when the writers said something it was like "Well, duh."

It wasn't the way it came across, so they put it in a webisode because the fans were not enjoying it.

There must have been a webisode for every moment on the show, then.

Stargate had a serious problem with failing to see consent issues. See the SGA eps Irresistable as well. They never even thought about it being an issue till it stirred up a shitstorm and yes, then they retconned it. Remember when there was going to be an ep about a quadriplegic woman who got to spend time in a lesbians body and then wanted to use it to have sex with a man? They were totally going to go through with it until AfterEllen (I think) got hold of the news and Syfy had to make a statement.

The reason I can never love any Stargate series is how they constantly introduce crazy, world-changing technologies and fail to deal with the logical human consequences. I understand the limits of cheap television, but it almost seemed like their series mission statement. Irresistible is the most disgusting example that comes to mine. Ugh.

'Whining'? No, it was fucking horrifying. They fucked up and should never have gone there.
