NA

I find my own reaction to this fascinating, because revenge-killing a pregnant person does smack of collateral damage, but I believe fervently that one should be able to terminate a pregnancy at any time, dammit. Hmm, what is my train of thought?

Well, I figure it as: that's a fetus the mother chose to carry till it became a baby. Without the interference of the murderer, it would've been born and been a person.

lol.

just adding that the pregnant woman doesn't die, just the fetus. he purposely went after the baby i think, since it was a stab in the stomach, not beheading or something else.

unless that isn't what you meant, idk.

The stab was also supposed to kill her, and was assumed to have killed her until she showed back up in season 2. I think Crixus was just trying to kill her a way that was deliberately cruel (considering how desperately she wanted a kid) but it was definitely intended to kill her.

Well.. yeah. But the person I was replying to sounded like they thought that killing the fetus was just "collateral damage" and I always read that scene like Crixus intended to kill the fetus. It was definitely cruel, but (it's been a while since I've watched s1 so bear with me) I got the vibe that he didn't want a child of his raised as a Roman, and that tied into it.

And, it's a rape-baby. I mean, that's probably factoring into things.

well an outside force destroying a fetus against the woman's will removes her choice in the matter. it makes perfect sense to me that as someone who values bodily autonomy and a woman's right to maintain or end a pregnancy, you would be upset by the fact that that choice was taken away from her-- whether that means by forced pregnancy or forced abortion.
