...because a lot of people like to know all the things that happen in shows they're a fan of? Because people can't magically tell if the episode is complete crap from beginning to end or if it's just partly crap but has good parts until they actually finish it in the first place? It's not like you can tell if an episode will be completely devoid of any worthwhile scenes until you, y'know, finish it.

Okay, that's fair enough. It's true that my method of watching TV often involves using the Internet, either to spoil things that I don't really care about / want to skip so I know what's going on in the story, or to at least figure out episodes that are considered universally bad that I don't want to watch. And I accept that not everyone is willing to do that.
