Turn Left is good for that ;_; Also, every time I watch Journey's End, I shut the episode off BEFORE it gets to the end, right after Rose gets dropped off again. I CAN PRETEND.

In my fantasy world, the Doctor found some way to shut his consciousness off safely, and he and Donna trawled around time and space for a few decades until Donna eventually got old and tired and she decided to go back home all nice and happy and satisfied. Or she died saving the universe in epic fashion.

Barring that, I at least headcanon that in the tiny pause between Donna crying and asking not to go back and falling unconscious, she and the Doctor had a superfast telepathic conversation (because there wasn't enough time to have a normal conversation) in which the Doctor begged her to believe in herself and see that she didn't deserve to die and there were other things worth living for and she could become just as brilliant without him, and Donna trusted him and believed in herself and took the chance willingly.

I like that idea ;_; Both of them, really.
