Does anyone know any good websites to find college scholarships?

[personal profile] shinyhappypanic 2013-04-06 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I've received all the aid I can from my dream school, and it's still $24k a year. My high school guidance counselor is a failure at life and her job, so I need to find some scholarships on my own. Does anyone know of any reliable websites I can scope out? thanks!

It sucks but that is what loans are for.

FAFSA may be an option.

This one is run by the Department of Labor.

Scholarships can be a serious pain in the ass. It takes a lot of time put in and very little chance of getting payout. But if you need the money it seems worth the trouble. I know I applied to an insane number and only got 1 or 2. There was a great website I used back in 04 but I don't remember it. You might try asking your guidance counselor they should have some good recommendations.

The main thing make sure you put a lot of effort into your essays or videos, those will win it for you.

I get emails from fastweb scholarships and scholarships.com.

Have you tried...googling "college scholarships"? Anything in a .org domain should be legit, but several other websites are resources for reliable sites.

The only problem right now is that you may be too late for a lot of them for your first semester/year, but it doesn't hurt to apply. Outside of that, fill out a FAFSA and start getting loans in order. Being in massive amounts of debt is what college is all about, after all.

I used fastweb a lot when I was about to go to college, but that was 10 years ago so I dunno if it's still around.
