Today my friend, in a joking sense, shouted NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR GAME.

And then it occured me that nobody I know, not even my closest friends, have ever played or shown an interest in the game. It's some obscure Japanese only game that was released years ago, never made it to the west and nobody seems to have heard of it. I even have a huge collection of merchandise from it (well what merchandise it had anyway). I even recently started work on cosplaying one of the more difficult outfits from it that I've wanted to do for a while.

But now, after hearing her say that, it makes me feel like I'm totally alone. That if I even mention it around my friends again they'll be secretly rolling their eyes in their heads "oh she's on about that again." I know it's stupid of me, but I've just lost all motivation and I feel as though I'm nothing but annoying. I already feel alone enough because I had to move away from my friends for work reasons, but now I just feel isolated.

Sorry, I just needed to get it out and I didn't know where else fandom related I could really say anything.

Yikes, that's rough. I'm a fan of Japanese pop singers, and no one I know offline knows/follows it. It's a big passion of mine, and I worry that I annoy my friends by talking about it. But all of us have our own hobbies/quirks.

Does your game have a fandom that you know of? I know a lot of Japanese-only things can be tricky in that regard (there's no fandom for my all-time favorite anime/manga, Emma: A Victorian Romance) but it might make you feel better if you can find someone who shares your passion, even if you've never met them.

It did have a fandom, but it's full of people who spend all their time ranting about how it hasn't been localized and how evil the companies are etc. incredibly entitled people who seem full of hate instead of enjoying it for what it's worth. Being as tiny as the fandom is as well, only a few people I know of, it's impossible to avoid and just enjoy it if you're looking for people to talk to about it.

I already struggle with my family thinking it's "Japanese crap" and constantly having that shoved down my throat. I try not to talk about it in front of my friends much either, it's not often I mention it.

Completely OT, but this humble anon is a fervent fan of anything Kaoru Mori. *googly eyes at kick-ass art based off a truckload of loving research of the historical period* My favourite story by her is A Bride's Story, though.

May I ask what the game is? If it'll ruin your anonymity you don't have to tell me, but I legitimately absolutely love in hearing about awesome games that never made it over here. And maybe talking about it will help rekindle your enthusiasm for it!

One of my favorite games ever has a Japan-only prequel and sequel, so even if it's not quite as bad I still feel your pain.

Unfortunately I'm quite sure my friends check F!S :( it'd give me away instantly.

A few of my fav games have had Japan only prequels too. It makes you feel like you're missing a load of the story but there's nothing you can do about it.
