Xena is the best. I was watching the show recently, and it's so unbelievably corny, but Xena is just the best. I always adored her look--she could not have been better cast. Lucy Lawless is still the face I picture when I think of a badass, sexy woman. You look at Lucy Lawless, and you think "Yeah, she could kick my ass. But I'd like it."

My love of Xena confused me for a bit. I kept wondering if I was gay, because I loved Xena and Gabrielle (though I prefer them as best friends) and the world around me kept telling me only men and lesbians liked her. So I was confused for a long time whether I was trans* or maybe a lesbian, even though I wasn't attracted to her, I just thought she and Gabby were awesome. Eventually I just shrugged and said whatever and enjoyed the show in my own way.

Good for you. Not every "passion" or intense relationship HAS to be interpreted as sexual in nature.

(I mean, I slash widely and often, but sometimes I see tight bonds as being of the non-boink variety.)

Xena was the best! When I was growing up, that show and Hercules were the first shows I really religiously watched, every week. Xena was a badass, amazing woman at a time when I really needed that kind of inspiration. Also, it was around the time I was having a sexuality crisis, so I was asking the 'Do I want to have sex with her or be her?' question too ('both' was the correct answer for me).

I'm sorry transition seems unlikely for you, OP. But still, out of fictional characters to aspire to be, you could certainly do a lot worse than Xena. :D

It's so odd how many people I know that have realized something about their identity or sexuality thanks to this show/character.
Myself included.
