Comic Book Collections in Comic Book Stores Earlier?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-06 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to follow it issue-by-issue, but circumstances have changed for me and now I'm waiting for the collected version of Marvel's The Road to Oz (which I LOVE, not only because Dorothy is the closest to blonde any Dorothy has been in any adaptation for decades) to read the whole thing at once.

Barnes and Noble has a street date of 4/23/13 for the book, but I've been told comic book stores will get it in earlier. Is this true, in your experience?

The comic book stores where I live (we have three of them) always get things long after they are released. They're good for tracking down copies of old comics, but useless for getting new stuff. I live in a medium size city in Texas and always thought comic book stores other places would be better about this stuff, but I don't really know.

Amazon has a street date of 4/30/13.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE COMICS!!! I can't comment on a comic book store getting a different street date, but that's the one amazon has.

I was going to say the last blonde Dorothy I remember is the one from the 80s Japanese version that got dubbed into English and had some pretty sweet music in it. I watched it as a kid and I think I broke the VHS from watching it too many times.

Yes. Comic book stores get their trades before book stores. It's been this way for a long time

It depends, really. A lot of times they will get stuff in earlier, but as another commentor said earlier, there are some that don't. I'd recommend going and checking out what your local store[s] say to really find out.
