Yep. I also love it when they have their bachelorette parties in our bars. (granted same-sex marriage is legal in Canada, but it's the "you're such a novelty :3" thing that bugs the crap out of me)

Ugh, that always bugged me, too. If you want to have it there because you have a lot of friends or go there a lot, cool. But if you're just having there to be edgy or whatever... no. And if you're a straight girl who goes to gay bars with friends, for the love of pete, don't act shocked and/or grossed out if a woman in the bar hits on you. There are better ways to let them know you're straight and not interested. :|

Also, this goes both for guys and gals imo, don't be surprised when you're not hit on. Just because someone digs the same gender doesn't mean they're automatically enrapture by you. Get your validation points elsewhere gdi >:U

It definitely goes for both guys and gals! The whole idea that anyone who is attracted to the same gender must be attracted to everyone of that gender is just so what-inducing. Because all straight people think every single person who belongs to the gender they're attracted to is hot? Yeeeah.

I am all for straight people going to gay bars, so long as they don't treat it like it's some sort of bizarre freak show or a tool for validating their own desirability.

Oh. My. God. THIS! Seriously, you don't even have to go into your "Oh, I'm straight. Teehee!" speech. Just say you're not interested. It's really that simple!

No kidding! Straight women turn down men all the time with a "no thanks" - why wouldn't you do the same for other women?

I guess "I'm straight" doesn't really work with men hitting on women ;) Heck, "no, thanks" doesn't work most of the time.

Nor does "I'm gay" come to think of it.

did you hear about all the dramatic whining from those women when The Abbey banned bachelorette parties? most entitled straight "allies" ever.

Yep yep. Seriously, how hard is it to get how much of an asshole move it is to basically flaunt something most of the people in this venue have no right to. jfc

I have never been to the one gay bar in my area largely for the reasons mentioned in this thread, ugh.

I guess I'm lucky that there's more than one bar here, although ever since the one bar that was mostly lesbian, run by lesbians, closed up due to the leaser's wanting to turn the property into condos, I'm okay with dropping the bar scene altogether.

That said, I remember this group of girls in one of my classes getting all hyped up to visit one of the other gay bars they'd read CRAZY ARTICLES about. They came back really disappointed about it being pretty much dead (do most people go clubbing at the gay bars on Spirit Day? idk. that's my theory). I was simultaneously experiencing the schadenfreude and secondhand-upsets for the gay men who weren't there to provide entertainment to these entitled jerks.
