What Would Your Name Be If You Had Been Born the Opposite Gender?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had been born a boy, my mom was going to name me Mark instead of Sarah.

(Yes, same Sarah who started the "what does your first name mean" thread a little while back.)

My parents were going to name me Colin James.

... It's funny, now.

Interestingly enough, it probably still could have been my given name, but no one seemed to consider it. I actually don't know.

My mom says she would have named me either "Wesley Crusher Must Die" Or "William Raymond James Robert" - that's right, Billy Ray Jim Bob.

In all likelihood, she probably would have actually named me Robert, after my grandfather.

Don't know.

Never asked.

Funny story, I asked my mother what I'd've been named had I been a boy (I was still feeling out my trans issues way back when) and she had no answer because "We knew you were a girl". Damn technology.

Probably Chance. It took my dad 4 tries but he finally got a boy he could name Chance.

Possibly Ajwad, my brother's name. All of my siblings and I were named after my parents' friends (yeah, it causes problems at reunions and parties) so I'd probably have got one of their names.

Apparently my parents never picked out a boy's name for me, since they were so sure they were having a girl, but I was almost named Elizabeth instead of the name they chose for me.

My mom was going to name me Maximilian or Zachary if I was a boy

One of the other possible girl's names she had in mind was Roxanne, which I am so glad I didn't end up with

I'd have to make a guess, but my grandma's name is Eleanor, and my mother's name is Ellen; mom would probably go with another variation of those names.

I've always been amused that my entire name is gender neutral. So while I don't know if they would have picked something different, my parents could have totally gone with the same exact thing.

It would have been the name that I currently go by.

Boris (it was my great-grandfather's name)

Ben, which is my younger brother's name. And if he'd been a girl my dad would have had him called Tuesday. I'm still not entirely sure why.

Anastasia, after my father's grandmother.

Håkon.

At least my female name doesn't have an Å, but it's still barely pronouncable internationally. :(

My parents intended to name me Andrew. Then I came out a girl, so they named me Andrea.

I was going to be Zachary, because my Dad really liked the name.

Both Mom and I are thankful I'm not, though. Mom because there was someone pretty unpleasant in her past named Zachary, and me because my junior high had 50 kids in it (special charter school) and 4 of them were named Zach.

Probably James Jr. after my dad. I'd be the best James.

If I had been born a boy, my name would be Jesse. If my mom had named me (as I am), my name would be Heidi. Every time I feel down on my name, I just remember what could have been and feel better. (Jesse's okay, but Heidi, not so much, for me).

I just asked and she said "Raylanne Rizzia", then went "you must be so disappointed to have been born male, huh". Um.
