I wouldn't ever tell anyone my exact birthdate. I have divulged the year (and I guess since I gave my astrological sign they know what two months I could've possibly been born in) but that's it

But yeah I think ID thieves can find info on you using your birthdate so be careful about that

Not sure why telling someone what kind of job you have would matter? Unless maybe you gave out the exact place you worked, but I'm a public employee so that's public knowledge already

One takes precautions, I just don't see an issue with sharing things online that people offline knows too, I don't live a life that I am scared my future employees will refuse to hire me because off, and that is one of my biggest concerns really.

Same with me and my University College, I don't run around telling people which one I go to, but if you wanted to know you can find out. And really it isn't like you could do anything with that information. Because like most things in Norway we don't identify with our names online, but numbers and I don't share those with anyone.

If you gave out your first name and the kind of job you worked, somebody with enough time and effort could call around and ask for you by name until they get the right one, then they have an idea of the area you're in.

I don't know where they'd go from there to narrow it down to one person, honestly, but I think that's rather enough information for somebody with the means to get somewhere with it.

That said, I've pretty much accepted that if somebody wanted to find me badly enough, they'd be able to do so whether I was careful or not - hackers are resourceful creatures. I stay anon for personal reasons, and the information I've made public on my various accounts isn't exactly accurate, so it'd be a little difficult for somebody to casually track me down. (Though my morbid curiosity would like to see them try.)

I honestly don't care if someone knows where I live or work, I'm not scared of stalkers, I'm more concerned about my SS# or bank information getting into the hands of identity thieves.

Anyone wants to hurt me, bring it on. I'm stronger than I look and I go full Hulk mode when pissed off.
