Re: Hey, babe, what's your sign?

I learned in astronomy the other day that you are probably not the sign you think you are. Because of precession (the Earth slowly turning like a top so that its axis describes a circle), the Sun is now in different constellations at different times of the year.

To complicate matters further, the sun isn't in each constellation for a fair one month out of the year - it goes from about a week to three months depending on the sign. And there's one that never gets mentioned: Ophiuchus.

This site has it in more detail: http://www.livescience.com/4667-astrological-sign.html

And here are the astronomically correct star dates:
Capricorn - Jan 20 to Feb 16
Aquarius - Feb 16 to Mar 11
Pisces - Mar 11 to Apr 18
Aries - Apr 18 to May 13
Taurus - May 13 to Jun 21
Gemini - Jun 21 to Jul 20
Cancer - Jul 20 to Aug 10
Leo - Aug 10 to Sep 16
Virgo - Sep 16 to Oct 30
Libra - Oct 30 to Nov 23
Scorpius - Nov 23 to Nov 29
Ophiuchus - Nov 29 to Dec 17
Sagittarius - Dec 17 to Jan 20

I'm still a Leo.

You beat me to it!

(Going by traditional - Sagittarius. Going by reality - Scorpio going into Ophiuchus. Neither Sagittarius nor Scorpio fit me (I have three planets in each - well, sun and two planets for Sagittarius), astrologers never bothered writing anything up about Ophiuchus because it doesn't fit their version of reality and therefore must be ignored at all costs, in terms of temperment, I'm closest to Taurus or Virgo (and have neither of those on my chart).)

Lol, astrology, basically.

I am actually fond of the constellation of Sagittarius, but that's because it has the centre of the galaxy and some gorgeous nebulae in it. Sagittarius A* is fucking cool :D

I in no way fit a Virgo. I am a Scorpio through and through. Bleh.

It's almost like dividing the population into twelfths and attempting to define their personality through a limited handful of subtypes is inaccurate and completely arbitrary!
