UGH, JIMMY. The Rapture is one of the handful of episodes that make me cry every single time I watch it. Poor Amelia and Claire, too.

Same. It's a kick square in the father-daughter issues, and actually the only reason I started appreciating MC as an actor. (I've never found him particularly compelling as Castiel.)

Family issues, and especially parent-child issues, are something that always manage to get to me, and for a lot of their faults, the Supernatural writers do tend to write those really well. I think that Misha's acting as Jimmy was some of his very best on the show. I'm a fan of Castiel, too, but Jimmy was just so relatable and real. I keep hoping we'll get to see another glimpse of him (or at the very least hear if he's still along for the ride or his soul has passed on or whatever), but I think maybe that ship has sailed. :/

Agreed. While Castiel was the thing that initially drew me to the series, the strong family themes are what ultimately kept me watching it.
Rapture is both one of my favorite episodes and the episode I have the most trouble watching because of how real and relatable Jimmy and his family are, and it kills me that we never see any of them again. They do address what happened to Jimmy very briefly in an episode.. near the end of season 4 I think? after Lillith is killed that Jimmys body, without Castiel inhabiting is, is pretty much braindead.

I don't know; on a couple of occasions after that (when he was being influenced by Famine and when he was having trouble containing the monster souls), someone made reference to his vessel as an entity apart from him, which gives me hope. (Also, I think MC has said he thinks Jimmy's still alive.) Not that it would be awesome for Jimmy to have been dragged along for the events of the last three seasons, but if there's even a chance we'll see him reunited with his family - particularly if the demons are sealed in hell and that danger is past.

Just like a Castiel fan to take a secret that has nothing to do with Castiel and make it all about him. It's a good thing that you all didn't screech and whine until the show runners did the same thing with the show, or S8 would have been really fucking terri- oh, wait.

Minor point - not a Castiel fan. At all. He's okay in small doses, but there are a host of other characters I'd have preferred to see on the main cast.

I'm a Jimmy fan. And considering that the secret was about another minor character who got a raw deal and was never mentioned on the show again, it seemed apt to commiserate that yeah, this show tends to do that.

This secret isn't about Castiel tho.

fucking this. Rapture is one of the few episodes that's actually difficult for me to watch. My first viewing I actually saw it in 3 parts because I had to keep pausing it.

On the actual secret; Metamorphosis is definitely one of the sadder episodes of the series, and I still feel terrible for everyone involved, Jack and his wife especially :(
