Personally, I read PWPs (with my favourite kinks) to get off, but that happens rarely and if the fic hits my kinks I don't really care if I know the fandom well. I'm just interested in how well it is written and whether it turns me on.

But most of the time I read fics to read them (for the plot/emotions/what not) and then I tend to skip over porny bits, because most of the time they are of the paint-by-numbers variety and just make me bored (not to mentioned, add little to the plot).
