Since anon is lazy, as for KHIII and the spin-offs/your other comment: another user said it. S-E is doing SUPER BADLY right now. It's still the only franchise that seems to make a lot of profit, so they'll keep milking it--III's only coming after the HD re-releases. At least the 3DS game is the main bridge between II and sets up for that.
(All those spin-offs are also actual canon, because Nomura. They've been good about putting summaries of EVERYTHING EVER in every new one, but if people are planning to play KHIII blind, I hope they keep them descriptive. Let's not even mention the Final Mixes.)
But yeah. FFXIV's debacle is likely the reason they lost so much money and caused Wada to resign, their micro transactions and overpriced iOS apps keep failing miserably, and they thought Tomb Raider's 3 million sales were a total failure, according to them. The company's in for a long, bumpy ride, and if all of their future FF games turn out like XIV did... eesh.
