Um. Yes, that is how you move large crocodiles, by jumping on them and overpowering them. How else do you expect to shif them? You can have a go at asking them to move politely, if you want. Let me know how that goes.

I guess it all must have looked a bit odd to non-animal people, and that probably wasn't helped by his enthusiasm, but in a wild situation that is how you handle venomous snakes and crocs. If you think that how he moved animals was cruel, you have no idea about animals.

...Would you like some Word Pie with your IAWTCoffee?

your icon, it does strange things to my mind

:D Although I would gladly trade those for book three to hurry up...

I am Ranty McRantPants, but after working in pounds and zoos, I'm just really touchy about people who go A BLOO HOO HOO POOR AMINALS BAD MAN. Some animals get defensive when you handle them, but you're not hurting them, and two minutes after you've moved them they've forgotten about it.

You know Book Three premieres next week, right?

And dude, yes. You don't even need experience with wild animals to realize that, either. Two minutes of observation in a vet's office will educate you how much animals tolerate handling. Why yes, I do have four incredibly spunky cats, an even spunkier Shih-Tzu, and a 100-lb. Boxer-Mastiff mix. Why do you ask?

I know, but somehow it's worse waiting when it's so close!

I guess it could be easy for some to mix up LETMEGOOOFLAILFLAIL behaviour with genuine I-Am-Hurtin' body language, but still, crying cruelty is going a bit far. They're animals- outside of a pet situation, there's rarely the time, resources, or reason to treat them with kid gloves. I once had to pretty much fly-tackle a wallaby. (It recovered fine, my ribs less so.)

Ahaha, quite the zoo there! I'll stick to my snakes; it's harder just to stick cats in a tub when you're bored of them. :p

lol, it's not as if I expect him to just ask the croc nicely and it would oblige, but having met the man and having seen quite a few of his shows at his zoo, he is clearly taking it overboard.

Wooooooooord ilu. It's way better to do it like that than keep tranquilizing them every time you need to move them/check them/whatever.
