Genuinely curious, because I know next to nothing about uh, "otherkin," but why do you say this? I've heard people bring up similar concerns in what seemed like complete sincerity, but maybe I was being put on then too? I'm just curious if this is out of character for that segment of the population, or if they actually believe things like this.

(Sorry if that sounds insensitive--I'm not sure how to take a lot of this "animal/inanimate object/astral plane" stuff.)

NAYRT, I was wondering the same thing. Otherkin really have faith. Everyone is quick to whip out the troll stamp, but truth is stranger than trolls.

Just my opinion, but while the opinion expressed in the secret is not something that would be bizarre to hear an otherkin say (well, you know, more bizarre than them already thinking they are animals) the fact that it is getting said in this place is what likely makes it trolling. FS is just not otherkin friendly terrain, which is not exactly a secret, so someone who is genuine about this stuff probably won't end up putting a secret like this here cause they know they'll just get made fun off for being an otherkin. They got a bunch of their own forums and communities where this stuff would actually get discussed serious, so why put it here when you'd just get laughed at. Which is what makes it more likely to be the work of a troll in my opinion.

Ah, I see. That makes sense. Though I do wonder, since the OP hasn't been stirring stuff up in the comments for lulz, if ze doesn't realize that this is an inappropriate forum?

I kinda feel like it's the former, tho? There's nothing obviously baity or trolly here, and those views are super, super common in the otherkin community. I think those can be so insular (especially with Tumblr now) that the OP just completely misjudged what was going to go down here. Like the OP was trying to spark a discussion, but was COMPLETELY WRONG about the responses he/she would get. I mean, just completely wrong.

In a way, I actually feel pretty terrible for the OP. Buck up, nonnie, and let your wolf flag fly!

(Unless you are a troll. In which case you are a terrible human being who knowingly set a bunch of bullies to mocking a community that mostly just minds its own business. Which is awful and you should go to hell).
