I also don't find romantic relationships between two people I have zero romantic interest in very appealing. Not to mention that I enjoy reading porn in shippy fics, so why would I go out of my way to read a less appealing ship for which I'd also have to skip the porn if there's any? As you said, fandom is about fun. People read what they like because they enjoy those things, and I think shaming anyone for disliking femslash is no better than shaming someone for disliking slash or for disliking het or for disliking all shippy fics.

there's a difference between not being interested in something and disliking it

if you only enjoy pretty people having sex in your fan experience I don't care if it's different from mine

but if you say you dislike or hate m/m, f/f, m/f, porn with unattractive people, gen, or whatever then you get the side-eye because that's putting more emphasis than simply "it doesn't get my rocks off"

Wait what? I'm not allowed to dislike porn with 'unattractive people'? Or story types I don't enjoy reading (i.e. the 'gen' comment)?

I'm actually baffled. There are types of porn that go beyond "no thanks, not interested" into "actively dislike and do not want to see/read/hear." That includes sexual situations with people I find unattractive.

.......... is this some newfangled SJ thing I don't get?

you're allowed all your opinions and nobody says otherwise ftr

it is when you start with the vocal dislike of things because, fandom being for fun, you have the option of NOT LOOKING AT IT. especially if it's something so broad and obvious from the summary like f/f or romance with someone you don't find attractive or gen

so if you don't watch it, look for it, can easily avoid it, have no experience dealing with it and still go "UGH I DISLIKE THAT SO MUCH" then I side-eye because it sounds like you have issues with it beyond you don't find it sexy

but what do I know idgaf about porn

Why do you say dislike, though? That implies you have a problem with it. I don't watch French tv because I don't speak French, but I wouldn't say I dislike it?

I dislike french movies because I don't get their sense of humor. Nothing wrong with them or with me, just a difference of taste. Since when are we not allowed to dislike things anymore?

I wasn't trying to shame you for not liking femslash. I was simply pointing out that if your only reason to dislike it was that you didn't want to read girl-on-girl porn, you can find plenty of fic without that.

I have a friend who loves femslash but doesn't like reading porn so I spent a good long time tracking down fic in our shared fandom that didn't include sex scenes and gave her a pretty solid list of things she could read. So that's where I was coming from in mentioning that not all femslash = porn.

But if you no have interest in it period, then that's fine. I don't have any interest in slash outside of one or two ships so I wouldn't bash someone for not liking femslash.
