I don't think it's remotely racism, no, but I think the arguments for it are stupid. Someone prefers Caucasian-looking humanizations for aesthetic reasons even if they make little sense for the setting, awesome! Full stop, that's okay, keep on keepin' on. But all of these bullshit justifications like the one you used right here are what really grate on me.

How is it bullshit? It's the exact argument people use to call anything-that-is-not-Africanized-humans racist. You can't cherry pick what native people are meant to be the humanization of indigenous animals. If lions have to be African because they're in Africa than red pandas have to be Asian, Camels have to be Middle Eastern (Or hey, since they originated from NA before crossing the land bridge to Asia, they should be Native American!) etc.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if most of these people were white themselves, and only bitching about the art so they can go "Hey, look! I'm calling out racism! I'm so not racist, you gaiz!"

Idk if I was drawing them as humans I'd do it that way - then have different species as different tribes
