I love how in these threads about contested labels, there's always someone with a boyfriend who identifies with said label.

I hadn't noticed that, honestly. Then again, I don't hang around F!S threads all that much. I usually just check the secrets themselves and then bog off.

It doesn't surprise me that there would be, though. I mean, it's enough of a distance to be able to keep one's cool, but close enough to care what people have to say. If that makes sense?

I only noticed because I pop on and check things fairly regularly (although I'm mostly a lurker) and I've seen people commenting to say they had a boyfriend who identified as x-contested-term before. There was someone in a fairly recent demisexuality thread whose boyfriend identified as demisexual as well, and they commented pretty frequently, so those comments stood out to me.

It does make sense to a degree, though, since that thread had about as much wank going on in it as this one and I can't imagine most people who identified with the term wanted to touch it with a ten foot pole. Also, you did make a good point, since it's a lot easier to discuss something that relates to you personally but you're still slightly removed from. Well, removed in the sense that it's not your own identity you're arguing.
