Came here to say Watership Down. I think it was mostly because my grandmother got it for me and played it up as something ADORABLE with BUNNIES and oh, I would LOVE IT.

Granted, years before that I had asked if I could have one of her bunnies as a pet and she said "No, they're for stew." so I guess I should've seen it coming.

She is a good grandmother.

I just don't trust her opinions when it comes to rabbits.

I feel like your grandmother would get along with my dad. He decided to announce one night at dinner that the chili my sister and I (we were 7 and 4 at the time) was made with "real bambi burger". This was shortly after we got a copy of Bambi on VHS for Christmas, too. I actually like deer and have no problem eating it, but that was a bit traumatic.
