I saw no reason go hide the truth, not that I could have made up a good reason anyway, so I told her about my nonhuman identity and the basics of what shifting is, and that it sometimes happens to a degree where I can’t hold it back.

I'm imagining the manager's reaction when her new hire explains that she was growling at customers because she's a "snow leopard/canis lupus therian."

Ha, that was exactly what I was thinking of when we had that secret the other day. Like "...really? I'm sorry, but if your identity makes you growl and want to bite people, maybe you have more than acceptance issues."

Also, no reason to hide the truth? Poster must be an idiot, because even people who don't want to hide things about themselves can usually see why and in what circumstances they should.

oh my god. She didn't lose her job because of her "identity". She lost the job because she was fucking growling at customers! I am laughing so hard imagining that poor manager dealing with this.

I love the part where her 'humanity crumbles through her fingers'. Because it's really hard to not growl and claw at customers.

Honestly just the image of Omened or Deth dealing with customers is hilarious enough itself.

You know I'm sure a lot of people would love to growl at customers at work if it got them to leave you alone... But there's this thing where when you get a job you are asked to adhere to certain rules, and if you don't adhere to them then you're asked to leave.

It had nothing to do with whatever the fuck that person thinks they are, they were unprofessional, period.

As some who worked in customer service for a few years, this amuses me so, so much. IT WAS HER FIRST JOB. HER FIRST SHIFT. THE STRESS WAS SO MUCH HER HUMANITY CRUMBLED THROUGH HER FINGERS. Hur hur hur hur hur. Puh-lease, wait until you've worked weeks of 7 hour shifts fulltime and tell me then how much humanity you have left. Hint: you will want to throw your own faeces at every single person who walks in, including your coworkers, in a bestial display of the abject alienation of your soul. But you won't. Because you are a mature, responsible adult.

Phrases that are obviously foreign concepts to 'Meijer'.

Otoh maybe she would have really liked that job. When I was in retail I felt like customers saw me as a zoo animal on more than one occasion.

I've wanted, or more accurately needed all the jobs I've had, and while working I've been looked at and treated like something lower than unidentifiable black gunk scraped off the sole of a shoe. I've also been bullied in the workplace. So, basically, I don't see what your point is? IMO not being able to stop yourself physically stooping over like a wolf and growling in the workplace while you are being paid to be a representative of a company is alin to not being able control your bowel functions in public. Some people have medical issues and can't. However, while I think people should be free to roleplay whatever they want in their spare time I flat out refuse to give any credence to the thesisthat this person could not control their 'were' transformation (they do know werewolves are fictional, right?), and therefore I see their actions as a choice, a choice akin to pooping your pants in public on the job. Ffs, if you have anxiety/ mental health problems or physical problems that make holding down a job difficult, acknowledge them, try to get support for them and work within your limitations. Don't invent an otherkin identity as a distraction from them then enact a self-fulfilling prophecy of 'otherkin oppression' which justifies your self chosen unemployment and withdrawal from society. That shit I will waste no sympathy on.

You have got to be fucking kidding me...

You know what, I have problems going out in public too. I get terrible headaches going grocery shopping. The thing is no matter how bad it is for me even physically pain wise, I manage to keep acting like an adult, because I'm a fucking adult, and so are you. Your manager had every reason to fire you for the way you acted. Considering what you told her, the poor woman was probably wondering if she had to worry about snapping and biting people!
