Because you're never too young to get a constant message of "your time is limited" throughout the entire movie punctuated by a drawn-out scene of Hell, am I right?

This is the first movie that came to mind for me as well, I remember being a kid and thinking it'd be this fun movie about dogs and well... NOPE.

Fucking Don Bluth films in general though, every fucking one of them was so depressing.

...I was trying to think of a Don Bluth film that isn't depressing, and my mind went "Rock-a-doodle! Rock-a-doodle is okay! :D"

And then I remembered one of the driving motivations is that a character is proven to be worthless and has a mental break down, and then the main character DIES (temporarily, but still). Also, I think there was cannibalism involved at the end. :/ I give up.
