It was an older episode of the old black and white animated Casper show of 5 minute segments. I don't remember the episode title, but I've never forgotten the contents and how I reacted to it.

There was a little tuxedo-style kitten that made friends with Casper, they played around and it was delightful...then the kitten suddenly died. I cried so hard. It didn't help that the kitten's ghost came up out of the grave and it and Casper were together and happy at the end of the episode, I couldn't get over the kitten dying.

I got upset every time I saw it, and even now thinking about it makes me kind of sad.

Actually, it was a baby fox, and the episode was called "There's Good Boos Tonight". And yeah, that was some shit to see as a kid.
