I actually had a similar conversation with an anon here recently and I told them I would really only read A/B/O if it had a bloody and dirty revolution or something.

Soul bonding freaks me out in real life terms. I feel like it's forcing you to love someone you may or may not have anything in common with or may not even like if it weren't for the magic soul thing. Because to me? Choice is one of the most beautiful things in a relationship. Waking up every day and choosing to stay with a person is just a great expression of love for me that when you take that away it makes it feel like an obligation. Choice, to choose that person over anyone else. I dunno, I find that really romantic.

I actually read a fic a while ago that tried to do the yay! soul bonds thing but also imply it there was a dark side at the same time. It was interesting. I don't think they pulled it off completely but it was a nice try.
