Choose me! Spoilers ahoy!
I don’t think I’ve ever cried harder at a season finale than at Spartacus. I cried through the whole last half of the show. I still have tears in my eyes. The ending frame with Andy… I sobbed even harder.
The deaths of Spartacus, Naevia, Gannicus, Lugo, and Saxa made me sob. Gannicus seeing the arena and Oenomaus at the end broke me. Naevia died like a true warrior, but I wish she had stabbed Caesar in the face before she past. Saxa speaking german to Gannicus, and him not understanding her, but the love in his eyes, just ugh. Lugo died like the badass he was. Spartacus… Spartacus’s death made me weep and weep. I still can’t with his death. And I still can’t believe Agron and Nasir made it.
What an amazing show. I am so glad I watched it.
Feelings on it F!S?
Re: SPOILERS FOR SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED 3X10
Though honestly I had went into it thinking that NO ONE (no one important to ME anyway) would survive. I'd been thinking that so long that I had kind of come to terms with it and though I didn't like it, I wasn't going to let it shock me.
Except every death (except Lugo; poor Lugo...I knew you would die first) did anyway. They didn't all bring me to tears; I think I was too shocked to cry through most the character deaths (no matter how much I loved the characters), and most were over pretty quickly so it didn't have time to sink in. But Spartacus. HOLY CRAP the lead in to his death was emotional and amazing and all kinds of satisfying. The strip of cloth and his memories of Sura and Varro and Mira and "There is no greater victory than to fall from this world a free man!" aldkfjal;jkdf. Agron and Nasir being there for his end was perfect too. (As were Agron's last words to him.)
I couldn't believe that Agron and Nasir made it either. When there was only five minutes left and they were still alive I was just waiting for some Romans to appear out of fucking nowhere to stab them in the back. IDK, I'm paranoid. (But I was SO SO pleased that they got to walk off into the sunset together instead of dying tragically. We needed that touch of happiness and hope after all that death.)
All the actors and actresses were on the top of their game and I loved how wordy the episode was and imo it was a fitting end for the series.
As for Gannicus, I thought there was no better send off than seeing Oenomaus and the arena one last time. Naevia's death was damn harsh and I agree she should've at least got to give Caesar a good slash on the face, but you can't have everything I suppose. Saxa...someone on tumblr mentioned the fact that Gannicus doesn't speak German and that for all he knows she could've called him something very unfortunate, and that made me laugh. (They mentioned she would probably be amused by that too, and I agree.)
Oh! And Gannicus? I think the hardest part for me in this episode (after Spartacus' death) was Gannicus being trapped. He isn't my favorite character and I haven't even always liked him, but I felt a little claustrophobic seeing him surrounded like that with no chance of escape. Damn Romans.
(Including Crassus. After all that "You can try" you let your soldiers drag you off the field and hide? YOU ASSHOLE. Not to mention what he did to Kore... I longed for Spartacus to end him.)
The ending frame with Andy...
That was a beautiful touch. I was waiting for him to show up and they didn't disappoint.
Re: SPOILERS FOR SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED 3X10
I knew everyone was going to die, but somehow seeing their deaths brought everything to the surface. It doesn't help that I'm a TV show crier, haha.
I cried at every death because I am a sob machine. I was in shock as well, so it was a light stream at first, but when Spartacus died, I was a wreck. His death was perfect. I loved the flashbacks and how everything came back to his wife, Varro, and Mira. I was 99.9% sure that Spartacus was going to die, but I still had a shred of hope that he'd make it. His death tho brought everything full circle and I had to happen so he could finally find peace.
Me too! I was in complete shock that they made it. I was so certain that they'd die; I was on pins and needles just waiting for the sword to fall and kill them. Nasir and Agron walking away into the sunset with the children was picturesque and I kinda hope they did start a goat farm together and continued to kill Romans as a side business. (Also the part where Nasir gave Agron the shield was too much. I thought for sure they were going to die after that.)
All of them totally were. Very fitting ending imo as well.
Like you, Gannicus wasn't my favourite character, but his death really got to me. Oenomaus greeting him in death, brought Oenomaus's death in full circle as well. Also the fact that Gannicus didn't want to be a martyr or saviour, but ended up on the cross at the end was oddly befitting, I guess. I hope Gannicus thought Saxa did, haha.
Crassus really was his own demon by the end. Kore's death was horrible. She loved him so much, but Crassus love battle and fame and he couldn't let her survive after joining Spartacus's gang. I wish Spartacus had at least been able to horribly maim him. If the spears hadn't gotten Spartacus at the end, Crassus never would have survived.
Re: SPOILERS FOR SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED 3X10
Oh believe me, I am too! I expected to cry far more than the last 10+ minutes but like I said...shock. There was so much shock.
I was 99.9% sure that Spartacus was going to die, but I still had a shred of hope that he'd make it.
Yea. :( I knew him living wasn't likely, but after all we've seen him do and overcome it was hard to believe that someone could actually kill him. He really did seem larger than life. (And the bringer of rain bit? Oh god. I said to myself, "They HAVE to" and then it happened and it was so lovely.) He was ready for death though, and you're right, through death was the only way he was ever going to find true peace.
Oh man, the second Agron said he had to fight and Nasir once again told him that he would stand by his side I just knew they were goners. No way were they living when Agron couldn't hold a sword and Nasir made him this nice shield and they were so sweet and loving and together...NO WAY. I'm glad to be proved wrong!
"I think people will be happy to know, they will get their goat farm," DeKnight said. :) That's canon enough for me! (Also, they adopted a few kids. They just did.)
Also the fact that Gannicus didn't want to be a martyr or saviour, but ended up on the cross at the end was oddly befitting, I guess.
I think so, too. It wasn't what he originally wanted, but he found his place in life with the Rebels and he gave his life up for the cause. It was very touching.
Poor Kore. Kore was an innocent victim in all of this and it's just heartbreaking that after everything she went through she wasn't spared. Even though Crassus appeared to love her, he just couldn't (or wouldn't) let her go. Arg. Spartacus would've taken him apart if he hadn't been shot up Boromir style.
Re: SPOILERS FOR SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED 3X10
Not gonna lie, reading that they get their goat farm is making me extremely misty. Thank you for that ♥ (They totally do adopt a few kids. Papa Agron and Nasir would be too adorable for words.)
Spartacus would've taken him apart if he hadn't been shot up Boromir style.
When Agron kissed Spartacus on the head, I had a Boromir flashback. And then I cried some more, haha. ;>;
Re: SPOILERS FOR SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED 3X10
Now that it's over I think I'll check out AO3. I know there's going to be A LOT of fic in that vein.
Haha, same. "This is like when Bor- *sob* SPARTACUS AND AGRON WERE SUCH GOOD BROS."
