Okay guys, let's get this straight. YOU DON'T HAVE TO OUTGROW YOUR INTERESTS. Interests just change, they always do, they always will. But I don't think it has as much to do with growing as you might think, it often just has to do with being bored of something for a while.

Sometimes you have more time in your life for hobbies and sometimes you have less, so that'll effect it to. I really don't spend a lot of time in fandom, but I would never say I've outgrown it, basically because fandom still encompasses hobbies I love, I still love movies/tv/books/video games, I still enjoy drawing fanart when I have the time, and I still enjoy silly fandom things that come across my dash on tumblr.

If I ever say I've outgrown it, well I don't even know what but I think you'll know I've been replaced by a pod person.

Even if a person does lose interest in fandom forever, that doesn't mean they've "outgrown" it. Interests change. That doesn't mean that former interests were "childish" or that the reason you don't like them anymore is that you've "grown up" or "matured." It just means you like different things than you used to. I used to be a lot more interested in the idea of gardening than I am now, but that doesn't mean that I "outgrew" gardening.

THIS. Because apparently I've outgrown scrapbooking, bike-riding, and and baking. At 31, I'm just too mature to bake a cake, don'tcha know.
