Only tangentially related.

This afternoon I ran into a friend I haven't seen since we were eighteen. We started chatting and it became apparent he hasn't progressed anything in his life in the last five years. So much awkwardness ensued.

No full (or meaningful 'part') time job, girlfriend, education, savings, still living at home etc. Just vague plans of pursuing a b-tech and trying to get into Uni to teach music. Wish him the best but I have a sneaking suspicion that was his intention five years ago as well.

It would have been a lot more interesting if you'd done your usual bit of complaining about everyone you work with and then gave examples where you're actually the douche and then we all point it out to you and you still don't see it. /nostalgia

If you're so interested anon, I'm done there and start my new job in a couple days.

Pretty fucking hyped. Been clothes shopping, reading through all the training material, working on prospective strategies to deal with my evaluated weaknesses, and generally preparing to make the best possible impression during induction.

Went through a similar process for the volunteer work that led on to this, and I loved the training and the people so got high expectations.

I feel like this is one of those "takes one to know one" deals - and I mean, if another dick thinks you're being a dick, you must really be being a dick.

Personally, I love all the infighting and squabbles of the named regulars here. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
