Which of the Scandinavian languages did you have in mind? There is more than one? English seems a pretty good compromise since it too is a Northern European language, and it is pretty commonly taught in schools all over Europe. And Canada. And Lower Canada too. And possibly also Australia, but since they also talk about Goobering a Majhooli and Chundering a Wazza, I can't quite be certain.
