People put their beds under the window? Doesn't that get cold in the winter?

My only criteria is that I can see the door :P

I once read some home decorating advice that said that only college students and younger put the side of the bed against the wall, and then I started thinking about every "real adult" bedroom I have seen and... it's kind of true... my guess is that's because if you own a home and have lots of space over which to spread your stuff, the only object that really needs to go in the bedroom is the bed so it can be inefficiently placed right in the middle of the room, whereas if you have a room in an apartment or in your parents house, all the stuff that you own has to go in one room so it's important to shove the bed in a corner.

Obviously not all "real adults" are homeowners, only in interior decorating magazines :P But now my goal it to have a space big enough that I can not have the side of my bed against the wall!

I love having my side of the bed under the window! Breezes, sounds - and yes, cold air! Makes snuggling under the blankets in winter even better. I hate not having fresh air when i sleep.

I live somewhere that's hot, and in the hottest room of the house, so being cold would actually be a huge plus!

The other thing to consider is that most home-owning adults are also married adults who share a bed and thus would need both sides of the bed open. I suppose it's possible that a single adult would also prefer to center their bed in the room, but I don't really see the point unless you hate having your bed against the wall and have the space to place it that way.

My partner and I have been in quite small spaces, but if you're crafty with your organization, you can totally place the bed away from walls.

I remember when I finally had an apartment that not only was all mine alone, but had an actual bedroom (as opposed to being a studio/efficiency) so I didn't need to use my bedroom for anything but sleep and clothes storage and I realized I was free to not have one lone edge of my bed shoved up against the wall. I moved it and I think it actually makes the room look bigger to have only the head of my bed against a wall and the rest sticking out into the room. Now I just need to buy myself an "adult" bed - i.e. something larger than a twin.

in my case my house has pretty bad insulation, so the cold under the window versus elsewhere isn't noticeable. I use ye olde method of hot water bottles and 1234567 blankets
