I don't actually know what Tumblr Savior is. Hrmmmm....

Aaand...i don't wear nail polish. I hate having long nails, am always cutting them off (either because they actually grew a bit and typing now sucks, or because they split, cracked, or bent backwards. I have crappy nails.)

I liked Spike's black polish.

Of course this is only needed if you use tumblr but if you do and are interested there are other versions (for chrome and other browsers) available too.

I like keeping my nails somewhere in the middle. Not too short (my fingers are short anyway, so super short nails make them look even shorter) or too long. The thing about longer nails though is you get stuff under them, so that can be annoying. (Even if you wash them constantly.)

If you're having trouble with your nails being cracked you could try a nail hardener. (There are a million brands out there so if you want something cheapish you should be able to shop around and find one quite easily.) You apply it like you would nail polish (they're clear, so no worries about color) and it strengthens the nail and makes it more resistant to damage. I use one too and as long as I apply it once a week my nails look great.

Ah, so, basically spam filter for Tumblr. I don't follow a lot of them, really, and the ones i've followed in the past that were suddenly full of stuff i didn't like i just un-followed. The ones that tend to mix the 'yay!' stuff and the 'wth is this?' stuff i just have bookmarked and go look at from time to time.

Every time i put anything on my nails, it starts to come off in about two days. Probably because I wash my hands a lot/do my dishes by hand, but it all just flakes right off.

What i *need* to do is change my diet. That would go a long way toward my nails being stronger.

Yea, basically. Heh. Whatever works for you! That sounds like a pretty effective strategy.

Yea, a diet change would help, but that's not always the cheapest or easiest thing to fit into ones schedule. If you could manage it though that would be helpful! You could also take biotin pills; those are supposed to help with your nails, hair and skin. (I haven't personally tried them but I've heard good things.) As for the hardener, if you get your hands wet constantly I'm not sure that it wouldn't chip after a few days, but I think it is slightly more resistant than nail polish.

When i take 'gummy' vitamins, my nails just *grow*. It's the gelatin, I guess, plus the vitamins. The sad thing is, once they *do* grow, i get sick of them pretty fast - it hurts to type if my nails are constantly striking the keys, so i end up clipping them off.

Mostly i want my nails to be stronger so they a)don't bend backwards when doing stuff like pulling on sheets and blankets making the bed (thus creating a score line where they then break off, leaving me with dangerous 'square' edges that i scratch myself with) and b) because my thumb nails get big...splits? i guess, at the corners as soon as the nail grows out past the bed, and that catches on things until i either cut it all off down to the quick or it gets ripped off. Ow.

Me and nails - a love/hate relationship.

I have the same issue with my nails! When I do paint them, it chips the same day because I'm always typing or cleaning. If I don't have nail polish on them, they peel and break. I use Essie Grow Stronger. It's a little pricey but it's about the only nail treatment I found that works; makes my nails grow without breaking. And every night, I brush some olive oil treatment on my cuticles. It surprisingly made my nails stronger, too. As for making manis last longer, the best top coat I've found is Healthy Hoof Lacquer. I def. see less chips with it. Sorry for the essay! Hah

To add to Elam's comment, I've heard people say vitamin D pills help with nail strength, too.

If i take gummy vitamins, they grow - it's crazy. But then i have to cut them off because typing with any kind of nail is really uncomfortable.

The olive oil thing sounds interesting. I've tried nail-strengthening stuff in the past and it just doesn't seem to stay on past a couple of sink-fulls of dishes.

I've actually never gotten a manicure in my life - mostly my nails are too short to bother (and i think nail polish on little stubs of nails looks weird). Plus, i really don't want anybody poking at my fingers. Or touching them. Or, you know...anything.
