no hate, man, I'm Team Barret all the way. and not for the lolz, I actually think they're the best couple. :-/ if you've got your eyes open for it, all of Barret's lines concerning Cloud are angsty UST, angry flirting, or banter. I will never not be mad that this pairing isn't the most popular FFVII yaoi ship of all time. I'm not active in the fandom but I don't think it even exists at all.

well yeah, barret totally has a crush on him and actually is one of his date options at the gold saucer. the fact that this ship is less popular than cloud/sephiroth makes no sense to me, like well cloud i guess you really lowered your standards there, gotta date someone who stabbed your friend and burned your mom to death um how 'bout you stay single buddy

and also cloud/reno now that i'm checking ao3, which. where did that come from

and reno is in the top character tags and barret isn't what?? WHAT IS THE APPEAL OF RENO, he had so little personality in ff7 that they p much invented his character in advent children and nobody noticed

anon, i'm sorry this fandom is so shitty. i usually avoid ff7 fandom because i am a fan of the games but i am now writing 2 long fics for it that no one will ever read. when i get an ao3 account i will post some cloud/barret for you bb.

hurray! i worded that poorly, though, so as to not disappoint: the 2 long fics are mostly gen. one is srs and the other is about the mysterious disappearance of fenrir & sephiroth failing really hard at being reincarnated.

both will include barret, lots of barret, but less so in the srs one because it is an AU where everything is kind of fucked up due to vincent killing hojo.

i am also plotting a short story from marlene's pov involving their weird little 7th heaven fam that is ot3 (cloud/barret/tifa) but focusing on cloud/barret.

sidebar: barret/mog house is canon & no one can convince me otherwise.

Not a disappointment at all! Lots of Barret is always good in gen too and the idea of a short story from Marlene's view of Cloud/Barret/Tifa is lovely (I think they're all good balances for each other).

...But I like Aerith/Mog House... well, now I'm picturing them crowding each other at the controls and arguing with each other about how many nuts a chubby mog needs to fly. XD
