If you're brilliant and good at your job, then learn to fake the people skills.

No one expects people to be Pollyanna 24/7 in most jobs. If you can be polite and keep rude and 'shit disturbing' thoughts in your head, you can function in a workplace.

I'm not a people person (despite being very nice). I am SHIT at the skill of small talk, and most of the time what I say can come out a lot more unsympathetic than it's meant to, so I've learned to bite my tongue when I have the urge to speak, think about what I'm going to say and also tailor it to who I'm speaking to.

Most of the people I work with? Know I have a sharp tongue and don't care. A few? There are just things that I don't say to them because they're more sensitive (or have no sense of humour/take everything personally when it's not meant to be).

The onus is on you when you open your mouth - especially in a workplace - to be careful about what you say and to whom.

The majority of people aren't born with flawless people skills, they learn them, or they learn to fake it.

Just don't blame having no job (or no ~amazing~ job) on other people because YOU are a self proclaimed asshole.
