I have a friend who sounds incredibly similar to OP's (almost exactly the same), and in my friend's case her parents are partly to blame. She lives with them, they pay for everything, and they baby her and treat her like a child, or are really overbearing. She doesn't even go to appointments without a parent. They're completely unprepared for her to ever leave, discourage her from doing so, and have inadvertently kept her very dependent on them. So it's got to the point where she doesn't actually like living there but at past 32 she's had so many years of utter dependence on them she has no motivation to do anything differently. It makes me sad.
