I'd never heard of the name before this secret, but I think it's pretty. It's not a 'cute' misspelling, it's not overly long or disharmonious - it sounds like a made-up name, but only in the sense of 'new' rather than 'bizarre'.

(I like 'Val' too, though, sorry other anon!)
