The Internet really does have its own language, doesn't it? I understood most of that, but just barely.

I'm going to need a translation. I don't speak tvtropes.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-18 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've really started hating TVTropes (it seems like everything that doesn't need to be changed is changed just for the sake of changing it, but you can never get anything done about things that genuinely need to be changed), but when I noticed a new fan in the fandom had obviously taken some info for her fanfic from a page I wrote mostly by myself...

And, in fact, apparently the recent influx of new fans had something to do with the page I created...

It was a really heartwarming moment. I guess I'm not just shrieking into the void here!"

The tl;dr is basically "I hate the way TVTropes operates, but it makes me happy when the pages I edit help out newbies in the fandom."

Thank you! :D!

another anon here, thanking you for the translation!

it's like you're trying to speak to me, I know it!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
And this is why I roll my eyes at tropers - at least when they feel the need to start using all the TVtropes slang everywhere.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I know how you feel.

TV Tropes is run by incompetent idiots, but I can't bring myself to hate a website that's introduced me to so many awesome fandoms.

ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER, DO. YOU. SPEAK. IT?!

I actually really love how this is written.

*casual troper, gives no fucks*

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaww, yeah, anon. I'm a troper who stays away from the forum (I've always been a lurker), so I don't really know what's actually happening in it. Hearing that TvTropes is 'run by incompetent idiots and as a troper you should feel bad for ever stepping into that wretched site', as most people dub it, makes me feel bad since I got introduced to half of my fandom right now from there :/
starphotographs: They are all cool, though! (Cognitive hazard)

[personal profile] starphotographs 2013-04-19 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I like the site and everything (including the lingo, because I like having understandable shorthand for different concepts), but it seems like the people in charge can't make up their damn minds about anything.
